Project Summary:
This project took place in Vernon River, Pisquid River, and Head of Hillsborough watersheds with the goal of stream enhancement and fish passage restoration. Our 2017 project saw completion of our fish passage restoration project at MacMillans Pond in Vernon River; gradual beaver dam removal and associated trapping in beaver management zones; alder patch cuts; native tree and shrub planting; over 200m of brushmats built; rock weirs constructed and rock used for bank stabilization; cover structures placed; annual smelt festival; and ongoing fish passage monitoring in Vernon River.
