Eelgrass Bed Re-establishment in Malpeque Bay

Project Summary:
This project enabled the Coalition-SGSL to conduct eelgrass planting projects in Malpeque Bay, PEI, with the assistance from the Kensington North Watersheds Association (KNWA).
We:
1) Collected beach-cast eelgrass shoots with viable rhizomes after an on-shore wind event;
2) Used two methods to re-establish eelgrass beds in areas where they have been impacted and/or depleted;
3) Monitor the success of the planting projects by taking ground truth pictures and doing a drone survey;
4) Facilitated communication between various organizations that are interested in, or currently completing, eelgrass monitoring and/or conservation projects
